  • Really sick of REW and want to fin an alternative fast. Been trying to launch a new site for over a year.

  • Hi Joseph, great question. First, IDX is the all-encompassing NAR policy that permits you to have MLS properties on your own personal website - and RETS is the 'method' or technology allowing us to get that data from the MLS in a formal / structured way. RETS is the very latest technology method for getting property data from the MLS and replaces earlier more basic methods such as FTP. I presume your MLS is NTREIS and IDX data is all accessed using RETS.
Most IDX RETS solutions for Realtors are created by vendors - such as Ultimate IDX - you can purchase a ready-to-go website solution, or add an IDX 'plugin' to your own website.
The awesome thing about getting IDX data is that you really can slice and dice it anyway you like - or at least to the limit of any vendor solution you look at.
Some vendor solutions offer the base essentials - just a basic search and display using standard fields.
Our goal is to provide the ultimate IDX solution (!) by including a large set of advanced search fields from your MLS that are relevant to each local market.

Ultimate IDX solutions do indeed embed all IDX data on pages that are part of your website and this is important as it helps make all that wonderful property data very search engine friendly.
This will also help you have highly specific website pages targeted to your own audiences. So, you could create pages just for a specific neighborhood and show properties for sale in just that neighborhood with certain features... or every time you write a blog post, add in a dynamic display of some relevant properties. So, exploitation of the MLS data to help you with your marketing is going to make your website - and therefore you - much more credible.
Hope this helps! Contact us if you need further assistance!
